Good News and Bad News

First the good news. Reign-N-Country will be sponsoring Friday night dances again this summer at Towerpoint. The dances begin on Friday April 5 and run through Oct 11.

The bad news is that John Klamm is shutting down the dances at Carriage Manor. The last dance will be Sunday, April 14. His email stated in part:

It’s been FUN!!  And I truly wish to THANK all the dancers that have supported JOHNE’s CABARET DANCES LLC.  throughout the years.   We only have a few dances remaining at Carriage Manor, and Jacquie & I will enjoy them for sure.

We will NOT be sponsoring any dances this summer or next winter due to the decreased attendance this past season at Carriage Manor.   We wish to thank Carriage Manor for the use of their floor this final season.

I would personally like to thank John and Jacquie for the commitment to these dances. They have meant a lot to us. Without these opportunities we probably would not be dancing today.

East Valley Kickers

I just found out about a group in the East Valley called The East Valley Kickers.

From their website:

EVK was created for people who like Country and/or Swing dancing, and for those who want to discover the joy of it. In just a few months, we have grown to almost 200 members while maintaining a 5-star rating. Obviously, something special is happening here.

We embrace dancers of all skill levels, from “brand new” to “advanced”. We have established a culture that is warm and inviting and where everyone helps everyone out no matter what their skill level.

We strive for “excellence in all we do”. That is part of what makes EVK special.

Sounds like a great group. Check them out at their website: www.meetup.com/EastValleyKickers

Hired Gun will be at Sunland Village East this evening.

They are a four piece local country band playing all the classic and great country songs we all recognize and love to hear. The band members have played together on and off for many years and play very danceable tunes for two stepping, line dancing and waltzing.

They have performed in many local venues, resorts, casinos, clubs and private parties covering the state of Arizona.

Doors open at 6:00p.m.
Cost:  $6pp
BYOB

Sunland Village East

This past Saturday we enjoyed dancing to the 4-50’s at Sunland Village East. It is great to have regular Saturday night dances and appreciate SVE being willing to sponsor them. Located at 2145 S. Farnsworth Drive, just east of Sossaman, south of Baseline, the dance itself can be a little tricky to find. It is held in the ballroom in the north complex.

Check the Dance Calendar for who is playing. The cost is very reasonable at $6 per person, with a limit of 200 dancers. Doors open at 6:30p and dancing is from 7p to 10p. BYOB.

This coming week Erv Reutzel will be playing and it should be a great night.
