Exit 40 Band

A lot of folks missed a good time at JohnE’s Cabaret Friday night, the crowd was smaller then usual but the band was great.

You missed a great Country and Old Time Rock-n-Roll band. Jay Farris has put together a very good 4 piece band that has a great sound. The name, Exit 40, appears to refer to the age of the musicians and not the freeway….but they still have their stuff.

You can check them out at their website www.exit40band.com

9 to 90, Great Night at JohnE’s

Bob Roppolo played a great set last night at JohnE’s. He even had guest performers assisting him for a few songs. There were only 120 folks in attendance, ranging from young nine years to over 90.
If you are looking for a great place to dance on Saturday nights you need to check out JohnE’s in Greenfield Village. The schedule and directions are posted in the left column. With only 120 dancers, that is 60 couples, there is a lot of room on the floor.

Rich Howard

The Rich Howard Orchestra played at JohnE’s last night. Good music as always. 160 folks dancing, with over $20,300 now donated to charity.

With that many people it is getting a little warm on the floor. Hopefully when they refinish the floors in July they also do something about the air conditioning.

Danny Kealey Orchestra

The Danny Kealey (D.K.) Orchestra were hot tonight and had a great crowd at JohnE’s.
This is a six piece orchestra that plays a wide range of music. To quote from their website:
“The band’s musical program includes songs from the 1920’s all the way through the 1980’s, specializing in music for dancing and listening from all eras and styles.  Included in this music are Swing, Fox Trot, Cha Cha, Rumba, Tango, Samba, Mambo, Waltz, Polka, and light Rock and Roll.”
Check out their website at www.dkorchestra.com.

Roadrunners at JohnE’s

If you don’t want to come to the party at the “Y” there is always JohnE’s Cabaret. The Roadrunners will be back. They played on April 17th and were great. It is a real struggle deciding which to go to, I really liked this band.

This will be the last time they play before going back to cooler climes.

Saturday at JohnE’s

Another great evening dancing at JohnE’s Cabaret. The Terry McFee Orchestra were especially good this evening. They seem to have added an instrument, or two, to their orchestra and it has really filled out their sound.

Of course, any evening dancing is a great evening.

The Bustin Loose Band

At JohnE’s last night the Chauffers were not there but were replaced by Bustin Loose. Admittedly I was not too happy, I had come to dance to Rock-n-Roll, not  Country.

With that said, this band is very good. Yes, Bustin Loose is a country band, they describe themselves as Country Music with a Kick!  They did play country, especially during the first set, but after the break they let their hair down and started to rock. Great music.

This is a good band and I hope Johne can get them back. I have posted their May schedule under Band Schedules. Hopefully, Shari, lead vocalist, can get her new Facebook site up and we will know where they are.

The Desert Drifters

Another great night an JohnE’s. Tonight the Desert Drifters played great country music. The floor was crowded for almost every dance and during the line dances the dancers took most of the room! Which left us non-line dancers crowded in the back. Guess it is time to learn the slide.

There were over 190 in attendance and the Timeless Tempe Tappers entertained us during intermission.

I have posted the Desert Drifter’s schedule under Band Schedules if you want to check them out. They will be back at JohnE’s on June 4th.
